Vaux-le-Vicomte: a must-see during your hotel stay

Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte: sumptuous

The Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte is a XVII century masterpiece sumptuously built by Nicolas Fouquet, at that time the Superintendent of Finances to King Louis XIV. The cost of erecting this treasure was so great that the King, having been manipulated by Colbert who was envious of Fouquet’s rapid rise, had Fouquet imprisoned just a few weeks after the château’s inauguration. Beautifully preserved, this sumptuous château is a remarkable testimony to the History of France, something that becomes perfectly evident once you explore the French gardens designed by Le Nôtre. Extend your tour by visiting the Carriage Museum located in the outbuildings: XVII, XVIII and XIX century carriages and couplings are displayed here around the themes of country life, town life and hunting.
